![]() Joseph reflects on his own life experiences on racism from adolescence to young adulthood. ![]() The Black Friend is a thought-provoking, relatable (for the black and brown audience) and brutally honest book that offers readers an introduction, especially for the white audience, to the impact of racism for someone of color. But ignoring racism is not fixing the problem, it only is feeding the country’s hate. It’s basically a mechanism for white people to use when they don’t want to approach the subject of race. Frederick Joseph brings attention to how the phrase is not so simple, after all. If someone doesn’t see color, then what the hell have I been looking at every morning. ![]() A phrase I’ve personally heard too often in line at the pharmacy while pumping gas from the cashier at the supermarket. ![]()
